Mecate Reins

Mecates are our favourite way to ride. As avid trail riders and with young kids Mecates are so easy to use. 

If you are not familiar with a Mecate it is essentially just rope reins with a lead line attached, they attach to your bit with a leather slobber strap.

Mecates are offered in all of the same colours our lead lines come in so you can be unique and stand out or plan and simple the choice is yours. Mecates are a great way to add a pop of colour to your set up also if that’s something you’re into.

These Mecates have a great weight to them so they are easy to ride in. Whether you're riding colts or a seasoned horse there is enough feel there that you can get the job done.

Blondie Mecates made at 22ft in length which is a standard size and should work well with most horses. If you'd like a shorter Mecate please see the custom order section. All Mecates are spliced at one end and include a leather popper on both ends.
